A clever new way to inadvertently teach Tamil Language to North Indians.
---- ---- ---- ----
Tamil Nadu State Gov can promote Tamil Language in an easy and clever way. To start, they can just add Transliteration of Tamil in the Devanagari script as shown below.
This method would familiarise and memorise Tamil words to non-Tamil people. They would pick up Tamil words and certainly increase their Tamil Vocabulary. This method may not be a complete solution to teaching Tamil but may prove to be a small beginning.
This change does not need any major approval, budget, or discussion with Central Gov.
A few Examples:
1 - அலுவலகம் Office अलुवलाकम
2 - தயவுசெய்து அமைதி காக்கவும் Silence Please तायवुसेत अमैती काक्कवुम
3 - எம் ஜி சாலை M G Road एम जी सालय
4 - அண்ணா துரை தெரு Anna Durai Street अन्ना दुराई तेरु
5 - சிவன் கோவில் Shiva Temple सीवन कोवील
I feel confident, if I see this sort of signboards everyday, I could pick up a lot of commonly used Tamil words. Inadvertently, this can also lead me to make connections with Tamil alphabets with its pronunciations, thus familiarising even with Tamil written script.
NB: This Language Promotion Trick is equally applicable to all other languages too
