Creating Islands: New York city is built on Garbage dumped in sea. I am sure it is possible to dump garbage and construction rubble into sea and create city islands. Use more imagination, it can help create safe harbours on coast, it can help create urban land creating valuable revenue for country, It can help reduce current population density on main land. It stops ugly landfills and dumping yards on land. Best utilization of unwanted and and unusable things in creation of Land-Wealth.

Artificial Coral Reefs: Help Fishery and tourism industry: Create artificaial coral reef using materials like unusable ships, vehicles and rubble. Some countries even have dumped unserviceable airplanes in the sea to create Artificial coral reefs. After sinking stuff in shallow seabed, In about ten years, artificial Coral reefs comes to life and atracts a lot of fish. Many countries of world have coral viewing tourism industry too. They use transparent bottom boats and diving tourism.

Take Land to solve refugee problem humanitarian manner

Take Land to solve refugee problem in a humanitarian manner: India can negotiate for land in exchange of keeping refugees from neighbouring countries. Strategically it is most important to take land to provide sea access to NE states. It is very important to expand chicken-neck area that links bengal to NE. If this does not work, take on lease area either from Myanmar or Bangladesh to give direct maritime access to NE.

Ishwar-Allah-God

Allah is nothing else but Allah. He can not reincarnate. He can not have a son. True Muslims do not like Allah to mean God or Ishwar.

God is God, he can be approached only through Church and He has one son. True Christians do not like God equated with Allah or Ishwar.

Ishwar is Ishwar He takes birth, He can be approached by anybody from anywhere and He is not differentiate between Hindus, Christians or Muslims. True Hindus do not like Ishwar to be equated to Allah or God.

Keep Ishwar-Allah-God where they are. Guys, please do not be over enthusiasts to equate them.

Glasgow: A pleasant experiences, worth sharing and worth emulating.

Many years ago, when I landed at Glasgow airport, it happened to be Birthday of British (Scottish) poet Robert Burns. As I was alighting from flight, every passenger was greeted by a pleasant official of a private airline on the tarmac. He presented every passenger with hallmark Scottish pride gifts, 1- A well bound book containing collection of poems by Robert Burns and 2- A small bottle of scotch. Along with these gifts, he also passed on pamphlets that provided celebratory program schedules at various locations in city and a list of addresses of restaurants that offered celebratory dinner with poet’s favorite dish, “haggis”.

Scotland is proud of her son, Robert Burns, who had died nearly 250 years ago. His poems evoke Scottish nationalism. Certainly worthy of emulating similar practice in our country with our heroes. My friends in Scotland assured me that haggis is not really a tasteful dish that they can enjoy and yet they never skip eating it on Burns’ birthday. Not only is it tradition, eating it evokes pride and nationalism, much the same way national flag or national anthem does.

May be some corporate houses can go out of their beaten path and think of honoring their towns, traditions, literature, sanskriti etc. using appropriate gifts on appropriate occasions. A well-made miniature Taj Mahal, a metallic Shivaji, miniature Bridge of Hawrah, Mumbai Halawa, Puran Poli, Tulasi Ramayan. The list can be endless. Every town and city has something to offer from its history and tradition. Ministry of culture and tourism can enable this scheme.

Similarly, if upper castes/classes are told how their sacrifice have made difference to lower castes, you will help remove the ‘sting’ from reservation. Make it glorious for upper castes/classes. “Giving up” is cool.

It works for both, the upper gets encouragement and the lower develops love and gratitude for what they receive.

Raashtra-Pati to Raashtra-Pramukh

Should we not revise the title- From Raashtra-Pati to Raashtra-Pramukh and correct error ?

Since ancient times people living here have considered themselves as Children of Maa Bharat. That relationship is part of our continuing ethos. President of a country is ‘Head of the State’. Its nearest equivalent word in the Indian languages is ‘Raashtra-Pramukh’ (translated, ‘Country’s foremost face/leader’).

Among many innocent translation mistakes India has done in her naivety, one is ‘Raashtra-Pati’ for “President”. After Independence, gradually freer minds are now able to look more independently at Indian ethos. ‘Pati’ with ‘Raashtra’ is not a good fit. In Indian languages ‘Raashtra-Pati’ conveys the sense that the incumbent is Mother India’s ‘husband’, ‘owner’ or ‘boss’. That he or she is not and Indian ethos do not even imagine so in its wildest imagination.

Therefore, it is time we correct this error and make changes as “Raashtra-Pramukh”, ‘Oop-Raashtra-Pramukh’, ‘Raashtra-Pramukh-Bhavan’ etc and so on as applicable.

Fortunately for us, the current incumbent Pranab Mukherjee is a man who has insight into Sanskriti and is well versed in Indian Ethos and languages. Surely, therefore, the title ‘Raashtra-Pati’ may be already bothering him. I am seeking his help in taking initiative. The process of this change would fill citizens with patriotic fervor. He can herald this change and create history. We know him as a person who has heralded many innovations and changed perception of Rashtrapati Bhavan.

People are people and among all, Indians are the most argumentative. If above change is mooted, some may start quarrelling over usage of ‘Raashtra-Pitaa’ title of Mahatma Gandhi. They should not. Even if ideally no one can claim to be ‘Pitaa’ (Father) of India as it has been a well-known entity from the time immemorial, the case of today’s India as geographically defined current territory is different. There is no harm in accepting Mahatma Gandhi as Father of Nation, he being one of the main leaders, a father figure (people spontaneously addressed him as ‘Baapu’-Father) and internationally acclaimed person who shaped what is currently known in world as “India”. The word, ‘father’ is applied not to only a biological father, but also to creator of things too. To the best of my knowledge, there is no title or position as ‘Raashtra-Pitaa’ (Father of Nation), specified in the Indian constitution. Therefore, at best it is only an informal term, lovingly bestowed by her people.  

Chances that above feared feud may take place among argumentative Indians can be eliminated to a great extent and transition can be made from ‘Pati’ to ‘Pramukh’, if incumbent President himself takes lead and requests for change in his Indian language title. His English language title ‘President’ needs no change.

‘Pati’ of Indian ‘Raashtra’ is an outrageous idea.
